This pat weekend’s Mississippi JUCO Jamboree gave me a chance to get an early look at a number of the Mississippi JUCO teams. Here a a few team notes about who caught my eye from each team.

Copiah Lincoln CC

In an earlier X post I mentioned 6’7” So. F/C Dakotah Hilliard, Hilliard will be a strong presence for the Wolves as he is long and active, A good rebounder and defender and can score inside and pop out for the open jumper.

6’2” Fr. G Deven Bates showed the ability to really score the ball on Saturday. Bates is a solid jump shooter with range out to three but  he really thrives in attacking his defender off the dribble, getting into the paint and to the rim for scores.

6’3” Fr. WG Prince Ojukwu is another wing that shows the potential to be another strong scorer for the Wolves. Ojukwu showed a solid mid range jumper and showed to be an athletic finisher around the rim.

5’5” Fr. PG Javian Watkins was smooth running the team, setting up his teammates and handling the ball against pressure, he really looked comfortable and in control of the team.

Mississippi Gulf Coast CC

6’2” So. G Jabbari Barry showed he can be effective on or off the ball, off the ball he is a solid shooter and scorer, he’s just has effective as a scorer with the ball in his hands but adds the aspect of being able to set up and find open teammates for scores also.

6’6 So. F Thomas Tangle, a long limbed forward who plays mostly on the perimeter, a good shooter and active, a willing defender and rebounder, showed the ability to be a strong producer.

6’6” So. C Larry Lee was very active on the day, played with a lot of energy, really hit the boards, got out and ran the floor, and finished well around the rim. Gives the Wolves a solid interior presence.

Freshmen guards, 6’2” Za’Karlyea Hamilton and 5’8” Aujaylen Barron, were both active, showed solid ball handling ability, made shots and played hard. They’ll be strong contributors for the Wolves.

Northwest Mississippi CC

The Rangers have plethora of big men on their roster. All who are active, move well, defend and rebound.  Any low to mid major looking for size needs to make a stop in Senatobia.

7’0” So. C Dorian Booker

6’8” So. F D’Andre Dues

6’9” So. C Richard Frazier

6’7” So. F Keanu Patrick

6’6” So. F Ja’Quise Richmond

Mississippi Delta CC

6’3” Fr. G Carter Mullins, a wired to score combo who just knows how to put the ball in the hoop and loves to compete. Solid playing on or off the ball, can shoot the ball with range, able to get a bucket off the dribble and sets up and finds open teammates.

6’9” So. C Davion Traylor, a long active center prospect who runs the floor, scores around the rim, challenges shots and rebounds. Plays with a lot of energy.

6’7” Fr. F Andrew Mancell, strong finisher around the rim, athletic and active, good rebounder, brings some toughness to the lineup.
