2023-2024 Preseason Rankings

The 2023-2024 high school hoop season is here and its time to preview it and that leads us to this point, the release of this year's Mississippi Hoop Report preseason team rankings. 

My choice for this year's preseason No. 1 team is the Raymond Rangers who are led by Eric Paymon, Jr., the No. 1 ranked player in the Mississippi Hoop Report Class of 2024 Player Rankings. They are followed by Canton, Terry, Yazoo City and Pascagoula to close out the top 5. But as we go into this season It has to be stated that this season more than any other in my recent memory is a season that will be full of parity. I truly feel that there is very little difference in the teams at the top of the rankings and those through out the top 15. I expect no one to go unscathed and wouldn't be suprised to see the rankings in a constant state of change and turmoil through out the season with this season possibly playing out much like the end of last season with suprise teams, Northwest Rankin, Brandon, Hattiesburg and Picayune playing for state championships, while more highly ranked teams faltered under the playoff pressures.
