2022 Crossroads of the South: Player Reviews

A previously published article highlighted a number of players who performed well at the camp last Saturday but there were quite a few others who played well and stood out. Let’s take a look at a few more standouts.
Maddox Noblitt 6’4” Soph. Guard Ocean Springs H.S.
A tall broad shouldered two guard Noblitt reputation proceeded him and he didn’t disappoint. A tall rangy shooter, he knocked down shots throughout the day. Also showed he knows how to use his solid build to create space for finishes around the goal. Moved well without the ball, helped on the glass and was a solid defender.
Tyrel Shorts 6’6” Sr. Forward Terry H.S.
Had a very strong day working the glass and scoring the ball around the hoop. Strongly built a very athletic, showed good hands and the nice finishing moves around the hoop. A solid presence on the defensive end of the court.
Robert Millender 6’6” Sr. Forward Pascagoula H.S.
A wiry active forward prospect, scored the ball well on numerous slashes to the hoop and got out in the open floor for finishes. Worked the offensive glass well all day and made a difference on the defensive end with his long arms and active hands, rebounded well defensively also.
Tyrel Hoskins 6’0” Soph. Guard Germantown H.S.
Maybe the best defender in camp. Really got up in his man and made it tough on them, quick hands got deflections on a number of balls and had a couple of impressive chase down blocks. On the offensive end he’s a quick shifty ballhandler who can get to the rim for finishes but also does a good job of finding the open man.
Davion James 6’2” Sr. Guard Northwest Rankin H.S.
A big bodied combo who is a strong ballhandler who makes strong physical drives to the hoop but also showed a solid jumper. Uses his big body well to carve out space and finish on his drives. A solid defender with long arms who gets his hand on lots of balls.
Derek Byrd 6’6” Jr. Forward Callaway H.S.
Byrd had himself a very strong day, he was very active and aggressive, showed a nice nose for hitting the offensive glass, had some nice finishes in the paint and stepped out and made a number of jumpers. Defensively he really competed and played with energy throughout the day.
Ryan Roth 6’1” Jr. Guard St. Patrick Catholic School
Roth had a solid and efficient day at the camp showing he can put the ball into the hoop, He shot the ball well all day and also moved nicely to put himself in position for finishes around the hoop. Competed defensively
Beau Miles 6’3” Sr. Guard Biloxi H.S.
Having just recently arrived in the states, Miles had a solid day at camp, he shot the ball well and competed hard. Showed a nose for the ball.
Kaleb King 6’3” Sr. Guard Olive Branch H.S.
A slashing wing who has a nice nose for the ball. Most of his scores were on slashes or drives to the hoop. Did stick a couple of jumpers, active defensively, long armed help him make plays.
Austin Abrams 6’1” Sr. Guard Petal H.S.
I really like Abrams aggressiveness thru out the day, really attacked the rim looking to score the ball, showed toughness playing thru lots of contact, played hard on both ends.
Kawaski Lambert 6’2” JR. Guard Clinton H.S.
One of the better shooters in camp and makes shoots from different levels, showed he could stick the three ball and the midrange, and has a nice finishing floater, was aggressive looking for his shoot, has a smooth game and doesn’t get speeded up easily.
Donny Anderson 6’4” Jr. Forward East Marion H.S.
A long active wing who really got up and down the floor in transition, a good rebounder and active defender who came up with quite a few steals and loose balls. Offensively he was at his best attacking the rim, where he is a solid finisher.
Jonivan Khan 5’9” Sr. Guard Harrison Central H.S.
Quick crafty combo who was always around the ball and found ways to score. A really crafty scorer attacking the rim and around the paint, A good ballhandler who facilitate the offense or attack the rim off the dribble. Showed a solid jumper, Played hard on both ends.
Reggie Conner 6’0” Jr. Guard Biloxi
Conner had a solid day, played hard, showed he could stick an open jumper, is a solid ballhandler, could have been more aggressive offensively, showed he is a very good defender.
Davion Henry 5’10” Jr. Guard Yazoo City H.S.
Active, stockily built combo guard, was very aggressive on the day, solid driver who can finish at the rim, showed a solid jumper also, played hard and was very active defensively.
Tyler Berryhill 5’8” Jr. Guard Cleveland Central H.S.
Berryhill had a solid day, showed he is a solid ballhandler who makes good decisions, showed he can stick an open jumper, showed a toughness and will to compete.
Jahvon Moore 5’11” Sr. Guard Murrah H.S.
Energetic combo guard who handles the ball pretty well, likes to get to the rim often driving undaunted into the heart of the defense, showed he can stick the open jumper, plays hard.
Caleb Gator 5’10” Soph. G Jackson Academy
Gator really had a good day in the Freshman-Sophomore division, he handled the ball and made good decisions, was aggressive attacking the rim for scores, was very active and got his hand on lots of loose balls, played hard defensively.
Khameron Snow 5’10” 9th Guard Ridgeland H.S.
Well built, aggressive lead guard who really pushes the ball and likes to attack the rim, uses his stocky body well to play thru contact, crafty finisher around the rim and showed a solid jumper, physical defender.
Jalen Stokes 6’4” 9th Forward Germantown H.S.
A long active forward prospect who had a good day in the Freshman-Sophomore group, showed a good feel for rebounding the ball, ran the floor well and finished quite a few plays around the rim, was very active.
Joshua Roth 6’0” Soph. Guard St. Patrick Catholic School
Long lanky wing, very active, showed the ability to put the ball in the hoop, scores in multiple ways, solid shooter, moves well and is aggressive with the ball in his hands, solid slashing finisher.
Kody Smith 6’3” Soph. Forward Madison Central H.S.
I’ve seen this young man play a few times lately and I must say every time I see him he looks a little bit better, on Saturday he was very active and aggressive going after the ball and attacking the rim, finished much better than in earlier viewings, and got his hands on lots of loose balls and rebounds.
Devin Moore 6’3” 9th Guard/Forward Germantown H.S.
A long limbed rangy wing, Moore shot the ball well on the day, showed he can handle the ball and attack the rim when the opportunity presents itself, played hard, competed aggressively and showed some toughness.
Jaden Leak 5’11” 8th Guard Clinton J.H.
Easily the best middle schooler at the camp, a stocky combo who really handles the ball well and is aggressive attacking the rim, really active and comes up with lots of loose balls, really dominated play in the middle school games and acquitted himself well in the one Freshman-Sophomore game he played up in.
Jaylen Sprull 5’10” 9th Guard Terry H.S.
Aggressive crafty combo, has nice size and frame, smart ball handler and good decision maker, shot the ball well and got to the rim for finishes, had a smooth game but played with confidence.
Marcus Goodlow 5’9” 9th Guard Jackson Academy
Solid ballhandler and shooter who found ways to be effective all day, moved well up and down the floor to create shot opportunities, was aggressive with the ball in his hands and played hard on both ends.
Dean Gibson 6’0” 9th Guard Germantown H.S.
Crafty wing who was aggressive getting up and down the floor in transition, shot the ball well when he got an open look, and competed hard.
Stone Stogner 5’10” 8th Guard Hartfield Academy
Had a very good day shooting the ball in the middle school group, was aggressive moving without the ball to find shoot opportunities and made the most of those opportunities when he got a look, if he could get it off it went up but to his credit he knocked down more than he missed.
